1. Who we are
LocoShare is a real-time location-sharing service accessible at www.locoshare.link. The service is operated by the project owner (the data controller). For privacy-related enquiries, please contact us at [email protected].
2. What data we collect and why
LocoShare collects the minimum data necessary to provide its service. The table below describes each category of data, the purpose for which it is collected, and the lawful basis under the UK/EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3. How location sharing works
When you create or join a session, your browser asks for permission to access your device's GPS. You must actively grant this permission — LocoShare cannot access your location without it. Once granted, your coordinates are sent to our server and made available only to the other participant in the same session.
No location data is stored after the session ends. Sessions expire automatically after 60 minutes, and all associated data (name, coordinates, session token) is deleted at that point. There is no location history, no replay, and no persistent record of where you were.
4. Who we share your data with
Your location data is shared with exactly one other person: the participant in your session. It is not shared with any third party, advertiser, analytics provider, or data broker.
The service is hosted on infrastructure provided by Manus (our hosting platform) and uses Google Maps (via a proxy) to display the map. Google Maps receives the map tile requests from your browser but does not receive your GPS coordinates. Manus's infrastructure processes your data solely to deliver the service.
5. International transfers
LocoShare is accessible globally. Our hosting infrastructure is operated by Manus, and data may be processed on servers outside your country of residence. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we rely on the safeguards provided by our hosting provider's standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR and equivalent laws, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
Right of access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your data. Because all data is deleted automatically within 60 minutes, this right is satisfied by design in most cases.
Right to rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interest.
Right to withdraw consent: You can withdraw consent at any time by ending your session. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Right to lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK, or your local EU supervisory authority).

7. Cookies and analytics
LocoShare does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. The service may use a session cookie strictly necessary for operation. Basic, anonymised analytics (page views) may be collected by our hosting platform to monitor service health. No personal data is used for advertising or profiling purposes.
8. Children
LocoShare is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has used the service, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The date at the top of the page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated notice.
